You don't have to have a disability to be able to homeschool. Families homeschool for many reasons. Some kids have learning issues and are not getting the help they need, so parents homeschool. Others are average learners and still others are excelled.

I suggest you look up some positive testimonials or articles about homeschooling that you can share with your parents. Make a physical list of all the pros and cons of homeschooling and show them your list. If you put some time into researching and calmly sitting down and talking to the, you should at least be heard. There are plenty of online programs that are free in many states that you could use if they don't feel qualified to teach you. Ask them why they don't want to homeschool you and see how you can work out a solution to get around that obstacle. I would also encourage you to pray about this whole situation, that if you are supposed to be homeschooled, God will provide a way for that to happen.

Depending on the state where you live, you will have different requirements to be excused from local education. Each state is different. Some you just have to take attendance and others you have to provided paperwork. In Ohio we have to provide an intended curriculum when we notify of homeschooling at the beginning of the year and then either testing or have a certified teacher look over their work.

Check with some people in your area that you know that homeschool and see what requirements they had before they could homeschool. I hope this has been helpful and that you are able to be homeschooled if that is the right option for you.
