Homeschool Websites

There are many ways to find homeschool websites that you can use for homeschooling.

homeschool websitesIt is easy to get overwhelmed by all the free materials out there for homeschooling. Sometimes it helps to have a guide to all the homeschool websites on the Internet.

There are basically 3 types of websites that you can use for homeschooling:

  1. Free worksheets - There are sites that have worksheets already made up for you and some sites that let you create your own free worksheets.
  2. Virtual Tours - These are probably my favorite sites because I love field trips and traveling, but I don't get to go many places. This way I can take my children on a tour of Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello without having to leave the comfort of my own home. Will it be as special to them as actually being there? No, but they will get to see more places online than they will ever be able to see in person. There are some fun factory tours where you can see how all kinds of things are made.
  3. Interactive Learning - They say we learn best the more senses we use. If your child can participate on and interactive learning page, chances are they will retain what they learned better. They might play a game, answer some questions, choose from a group of pictures, or create something online at a website.
The Internet opens up a whole new dynamic to homeschooling. It helps you use more senses. You are not just reading static text all the time. You might see pictures, listen to audio AND play a game or answer some questions related to the topic.

It's pretty easy to get overwhelmed by all the homeschool websites that are available. I have made that task a little easier by reviewing over 300 websites and organizing them into a guide by subject. My guide, Internet Resources for Homeschooling has information for all ages from preschool through college and every subject you could imagine. If you want to know the best sites that are most helpful for homeschooling, then you can purchase Internet Resources for Homeschooling in ebook form for just $9.95. You can link right to the Internet from the book and have all the information you need for homeschooling right at your fingertips.
