Did you ever wonder what a homeschool learning style assessment involves? Read on, as I review this idea and interview the author of the book.

Recently I was able to talk to Mariaemma Pelullo-Willis the co-founder of the Learning Success Institute and co-author of several books including: A Self-Portraitâ„¢ Learning Style SystemMid-Life Crisis Begins in Kindergarten, and Discover Your Child's Learning Style. She is a very sweet lady with lots of experience with children and learning styles.

Here is our 20 minute interview at Learning Style Interview. Mariaemma let me ask her any questions I wanted to ask and she very graciously gave me everything I was looking for. Hopefully my questions are the same ones you might have too.

Homeschool learning style assessments using a book . . .

I have read Discover your Child's Learning Style and have done the Learning Style Assessment with each of my four children. It was amazing what we learned about ourselves and each other by working through these assessments. The assessments don't take very long but are very comprehensive and much more helpful than any other type of test we have taken in the past.

Having your children know how their siblings learn best can be very helpful too. If one child knows that the other child learns better in a quiet environment, then they might be more considerate since they know how they learn best and don't want anyone to interfere with that either. If students know best how they learn, then they can understand in the future what type of thoughts and environment they need to learn best. They can use this assessment this year and for many years to come.

A Learning Style Assessment is different than just finding your learning style based on the auditory, visual, kinesthetic model. The assessments also address personality style, learning environment, modality and many other aspects of learning. They go much deeper and broader than this.

Learning styles can be adapted to almost any curriculum depending on the parent's willingness and ability to adapt it. Most textbook and school approaches do not fit with how most people learn.

My readers get a $5 discount on a Learning Style Assessment or they can purchase the book Discover your Child's Learning Style and do the assessment themselves. I recommend that all students over 8 years of age participate in one of these assessments.
